This publication is based on a talk
delivered by Sayadaw U Jotika at Mangala Vihara Buddhist Society in Singapore
in 2003.
Can You Afford Not to Meditate? ... a
candid sharing of Sayadaw’s life journey where he talks about how he suffered
from depression and insomnia as a teenager, and how he studied and tested all
types of religion but could not decide to follow any, not till he was 26 years
old when after 8 years of practising meditation he discovered for himself the
truth of Buddha’s words.
With conviction he tells: Why You Cannot
Afford Not To Meditate, where he talks about how one can become the best human
being one is capable of when one knows how the mind works, how it affects the
body, how kamma works and how nature works. With meditation one can become
truly free, no longer be at the mercy of the mind and tormented by life’s
difficulties but live a life of wisdom and truly live.
